International Self-Care Day

Happy Summer Reader,

It was International Self-Care Day on July 24th.

A day encouraging the practice of all things that help one’s mental, physical and spiritual health.

I'm happy to see attention brought to this important topic, but like with commercial holidays, for me it isn't about one day, but a lifestyle.

This year's theme was "Resilience, adaptability, and thriving in adversity”.

I know I am a badass example of this.

The way I manage stress and cope with difficult emotions, given all the grit in my life, includes the following three S's:
❤  Self-care
❤ Simple pleasures
❤  Sisterhood

Last week I was feeling heavy from all the caregiving and knew I needed to take a "triple threat" infused break.

So, on Wednesday, after stocking my beau up with groceries and making sure he had everything he needed, I took the ferry to Gibsons (Sunshine Coast) to spend the night at a friend's place. She picked me up, fed me and then with a group of women we went to another friend's outdoor concert. It was such a delight.

As was the next day. Though prepared with my laptop, I pulled the plug on work.

Instead, I chose to read on the patio and then join my friend for brunch and an oceanside walk, a tandem yoga nidra session and all day chats.

I felt so nourished, recharged and regulated.

It doesn’t take much. Just a commitment to feeling good and consistency.

I have a big week ahead, but I'm going back to Gibsons on Thursday for another time out followed by a women's weekend retreat. More magic.

If you could use support with your own resiliency and/or self-care, join one (or all) of my three events this week:

1) CoWerk: A co-working container that offers accountability for your self-care, finances, starting/finishing tasks... (Monday, July 31st, 10-12pm PT)
2) Full Moon 'Happy Hour': A safe place to define and explore all things self-care (Tuesday, August 1st, 11:11am PT)
3) Community CoWerk: FREE for all women on the first Thursday of the month (Thursday, August 3rd, 11-1pm PT)

May every single day be Self-Care Day for you.

PS If you are new here, welcome. Be sure to whitelist my email so I don't get trashed. ❤
